World Environment Day Reflection

Today is World Environment Day. World Environment Day is held on the 5th of June every year. World Environment Day first occurred in 1974. We have World Environment Day to use less energy and understand why we have this day and how we can help the environment and our planet to become a better place

My reflection and recalls from an article based on The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP):

The great pacific garbage patch is the lagestest of the 5 ocean plastic accumulation zones. It is located halfway between Hawaii and California.

It’s estimated that approximately 1.15 to 2.41 million tonees of plastic are inviting theirselves into the ocean each year from rivers.

A total of 1.8 trillion plastic pieces were estimated to be floating in the patch – a plastic count that is equivalent to 250 pieces of debris for every human in the world.

Type H : Hard plastic, plastic sheet or film;
– Type N : Plastic lines, ropes and fishing nets;
– Type P : Pre-production plastics (cylinders, spheres or disks);
– Type F : Fragments made of foamed materials

Not only does the plastic pollution in the ocean affect marine lives they also affect human lives as well.

The impact plastic pollution has on wildlife is even worse than I could have imagined. They choke them, the marine animals swallow them which is the oppiste of fantastic for their diet.

How can we make a change to prevent this horrible reality from expanding to something even more dreadful? What I’m going to try and do is to use less plastic and be careful with what I recycle and what I throw in the rubbish. Can you help me and a lot of others stop this tragedy?
