My understandings– Blue
Kids are often asked to write assignments. But it’s not everyday an assignment can give you a chance to go overseas. A girl called Lucinda Duxbury wrote an assignment about a soldier called Leslie Varley Duxbury who fought for Australia in World War 1. It was his first and last trip overseas before he was killed on the battle field in France. Before Leslie left he wrote a song called Come On Australians. He was 24 when he wrote this encouraging song. Leslie and thousands of other soldiers traveled by boat. This is a very inspiring story by Lucinda Duxbury.
Australians soldiers in World War 1 saved a french primary school.
What I’ve learnt from this inspiring story is why we pay our respects to all those soldiers that risked their lives for us and who fought to protect our country so we could be where we are today. LEST WE FORGET.
